Overview
The series is built in the form of saga and depicts the turbulent periods of the beginning of the 20th century through the eyes of ordinary people: the First World War, the revolution, the emergence of Soviet regime. Each of the characters faced the changes in their own way through their concept of truth. However, all of them shared fundamental desire to live, love and find their own place in the new era.

A priest’s daughter falls in love with an idealistic student, but her family has other plans for her future. The revolution pits father against son.
S01E03 Episode 3
Vasyl meets fiery resistance when he returns to Tarasivka to impose Bolshevik rule. For Tanya and Oksen, life goes from bad to worse.
S01E04 Episode 4
Oksen pays a high price for his freedom. Hajduk rebels against the authorities. Vasyl must confront a ghost from his past.
S01E05 Episode 5
Tanya is shocked when her brother comes home as a political hardliner, determined to hunt down Hajduk. Despite that, Olesya is infatuated with Fyodor.

Fyodor and Olesya's blossoming relationship draws more and more disapproval until tensions within the family reach a breaking point.

Someone familiar comes to Tarasivka to help deliver Tanya's first child, rekindling an old love in difficult new circumstances.

Violence erupts when opposition forces target Vasyl. Despite her husband’s misgivings, Tanya begins teaching students at home.

A face from Vasyl's past turns up in town, but now she's working on behalf of the Soviet regime. Oleg and Tanya risk everything for love.

Government demands for wheat threaten the village's survival. When Oksen and his family try to resist, they face the brutal side of the law.
S01E11 Episode 11
A state official with a personal agenda could decide the fate of the whole village. Vasyl takes a stand as conditions deteriorate.
S01E12 Episode 12
Despair consumes the village as the state confiscates food and cracks down on dissidents. Against all odds, Tanya and Oleg plan for their future.
